Food Allergy Counseling

Do you feel overwhelmed by a new diagnosis of a food allergy? Do you experience significant stress or anxiety about managing your food allergies? Do you feel that your food allergies are impacting your overall quality of life?

I understand firsthand how food allergies can feel overwhelming and high-stakes to manage. In food allergy counseling, it is my goal to help you find a way to keep yourself safe while also getting to experience the life you want with your food allergy. Common issues addressed in food allergy counseling include:

  • Managing food allergy stress and anxiety, and building up coping skills and resources for food allergy management.

  • Processing emotions around your food allergy, such as sadness, grief, frustration, anger, or guilt.

  • Balancing fear and quality of life, particularly through allergy transitions like going to a new school, starting a new hobby, or becoming a teenager and gaining more responsibility about your own food allergy management.

  • Processing trauma after an allergic reaction.

Food allergy counseling is a newer niche in the counseling field, however, it is quickly growing! Food allergy counseling can be helpful for individuals, children, parents, and families. Food allergy counseling is NOT medical advice, and you should consult your allergist about specifics of your allergy diagnosis and your allergy action plan. If you think food allergy counseling would be something that you may benefit from, let’s connect to discuss more about your own food allergies!
